WHAT YOU LEFT BEHIND |
A dilapidated cabin, left to rot in the woods. Growth overtaking a rusted truck, a plate faded from years of exposure hangs only by a single screw- the rest deteriorated by time. Only scattered pieces of gravel alludes to a once maintained trail that leads to the shore of a crystal blue lake, still thawing from winter's peril. Conifers surround its edge and beyond- larch, hemlock, sitka spruce... Glaciers of humbling sizes are seen beyond and beyond and guard this land like grand giants. You hear the life around you in their little chorus, breaking the silence of snow. Once enchanting, but now a prison with lanky trees and towering mountains as the jail bars. Nothing is new. |

General Notes
Sam can be used in your stories, but take heed that he does not actively seek out the company of ghosts he does not already know. He's usually found lurking around in the riparian woodland that surrounds his lake- lost deep in thought or enforcing his mental catalogue of the flora and fauna that surround his haunting.
Regarding this old dwelling, a cabin in the woods, he's wary of its presence and the shame it brings. Though he's not a confrontational man, he'll try his best to prevent any human, animal, or ghost from entering. It's not hard to overpower him, though- you see, he is very small and puntable. Locking doors and shuttering windows can't work forever.
Sam has a very loose grasp on his abilities as an esk; teleporting makes him sick, he does not know how to levitate objects... His mind wanders and so does his form, sometimes trapped in the same time period (between 1968 and 1974: around when he perished), and finding that he somehow meandered into the conservatory.
It takes him a great deal of time to warm up to others, but once acquainted he's a thoughtful and curious friend. He will try his best to offer insight to anyone with a willing ear. Sam also takes great care to avoid complete submersion in water, the sensation is extremely uncomfortable.

Relationships
Sam shares his boundary with Kalispell- known as Robin in life, they were childhood friends. After a butchered and hastened transformation in an attempt to save Robin from the freezing cold, their relationship is now fractured. He's considered estranged... to a degree. Family is family.
Sam will speak kindly of Kalispell when prompted, even if they don't in return. He still loves his best friend dearly and would do anything for them. If confronted about the transformation, he will do his best to avoid the subject- otherwise, he'll more than likely spiral into a sense of despair and guilt and slink away.
Sam is also familiar with ES, and as far as Sam is concerned, ES is just a voice that managed to manifest inside his busted truck's radio that keeps him company sometimes. So much weird shit has been happening to him for the last several decades, so he doesn't question it.
