I LEFT EMPTY HANDED
It could be worse (it's pretty bad though) You used to ski through these very woods, biting wind, blinding snow. Nights of nutcrackers flitting between whitebark pine and grey jays begging for scraps. Se tirer une bûche, take a seat, watch your family gather at the campfire and pour the coffee grounds from the pot in the morning steam. Watch your rural neighborhood become a surburban monster. Watch snowbirds only appear for half the year in their third home while you struggle to keep up with a skyrocketing rent and an unending red rust plague. At least the nutcrackers are counting on you. |
